Description

Item Description: EXTREMELY RARE & unusual one-of-a-kind folk art sculpture by American artist L.J. Vicedo. The subject of this particular piece is a sunbather (a fork!) lounging underneath an umbrella (fashioned from a soup spoon). The mediums used include wood, flatware (spoon & fork) and burlap. The time period for this piece is mid-century - likely around 1960-1975 (but unable to confirm). There's a plaque on the wood base with the artist's engraved signature, which reads 'L.J. Vicedo'. These pieces are incredibly hard to find and do not come up for sale very often. Perfect for a bar-top or desktop. Quite the conversation piece! Condition notes: In Good overall condition for its age, with some spots on the front and back of the base of the spoon handle where some of the finish has worn off. All of the metal 'fringe' on the umbrella is still intact and there appear to be no pieces missing. The burlap 'beach towel' is frayed and delicate, but would likely remain in a state of arrested deterioration if handled carefully. Measurements: The wood base is approximately 7.75". The overall height is approximately 5.25". A truly unique addition to any mid-century folk art collection! **PLEASE SEE PHOTOS as they are part of the description** **Comes from a non-smoking home** **Please ask any questions before purchasing as all sales are final unless item is not as described**
