NOTE any yellowish look in the photos is the color of my driveway and sunlight reflecting through the whale. This item is clear and not yellowed at all. This auction is for one vintage 1960s-1970s Herb Ritts Company of Las Angeles, California, Acrylic / Lucite Astrolite whale or fish sculpture. More often you see Ritts whales that have a cigarette lighter embedded in them, but this is the much harder to find and more pleasant version without the lighter. This unit also has a seldom-seen cylindrical Lucite pedestal. Interestingly, it has a hole drilled for a Lucite pole (like make Ritts sculptures were), but the bottom of the whale is not drilled. This unit is unmarked. These originally had stickers, but the sticker is long gone. Overall, I would say that it has just light age wear here and there, but nothing terrible for being 50 years old. I've looked at other ones, and when they cut the mouth, there is some jagged tear-out on the one side of the cut. This is one is the same way. I've also looked at other Ritts fish and they also have stress age lines around the eyes. This one is the same way. These are not scratches, just age. Note the large and detailed photographs. This is a rare item that's hard to find in such nice condition. Don't pass it up, and email me any questions. Thanks.
